Painting with...gel?!

So I try to do different activities with little man, especially on yucky, cold, rainy days (which seem to be everyday lately) and well, today was no different. I found a DIY finger paint recipe from redtedart.com and apparently I can't read because there is a disclaimer about having too much cornstarch which causes the paint to get "gloppy." Yeah, this was my first time doing this, so I didn't know how it was supposed to be. Besides, I never claimed to be an artist or painter, so me not knowing the proper consistency of paint is not that high on my 'Ashley, you should know this' list. So, here's what we ended up with:

Trying out this new "paint."

Hmm...Not 100% sure about it...but it looks interesting.

And he delved right in. He has this thing when he gets dirt, paint, anything on his hands, he instantly wipes it off on his chest/shirt.

He was getting a little frustrated because it wasn't doing what he wanted it to do.

And as you can see, it was a globby mess!

But we had fun and it was a learning process. The next time I make this "stuff" I'm going to thin it out a bit so it's like real paint! The cool thing about this paint was that it was homemade, so it was non-toxic. NOT EDIBLE, but not harmful IF he got some in his mouth, which surprisingly, he never did. I figured he would've tried just a bit of it, but nope, never came close. I just hope he doesn't confuse this stuff with Jell-O. Because lord help me if this kid tries to paint with Jell-O. Talk about stains.
